How it works

From regulator language to a plan you can act on.

EPA notices are written for lawyers, not for the person who has to respond to them. We translate — our consultants deal with EPA Victoria every week, and know what the author of that notice is actually looking for.

Send or email the notice

The notice, a remedial notice, a permit condition — whatever the regulator sent. A photo or scan is fine.

A consultant reviews it

Expert human review, assisted by our document tooling — every read-back is prepared and reviewed by a consultant, not generated and fired off.

Plain-English read-back within one business day

What it requires, every deadline in it, and your options for closing it out — with a written estimate only if work is actually needed.

The fine print, up front

The read-back is general information about what your notice says and the pathways available to you — it isn't legal advice. If your situation needs a lawyer, we'll tell you that too.

The read-back

What you'll get back.

  • What the notice legally requires of you — in plain English.
  • Every deadline in it, so nothing is missed.
  • The response pathway that closes it out.
  • Whether you need an EMP, RMMP or assessment — and roughly what that involves.
  • A written estimate if work is needed. No obligation either way.

FAQ

Before you send it.

Is this really free?

Yes. The read-back costs nothing and comes with no strings. If the notice turns out to require work — an EMP, an RMMP, an assessment — you'll get a written estimate for it, and whether to proceed is entirely your call.

Who sees my notice?

Our consultants only. Everything you send is treated as confidential — it isn't shared, and it isn't used for anything except preparing your read-back.

What types of notice can you review?

Any EPA Victoria notice, and council environmental conditions too. If you're not sure what you've been sent, our guide to what notices EPA Victoria can issue walks through the types — or just send it and we'll tell you.

What if the deadline is tight?

Call 1300 390 039 and mention the deadline. A tight clock changes how we sequence things, and the sooner we see the notice the more options you have.

What happens after I send it?

A consultant reads the notice, identifies what it legally requires and every deadline in it, and replies within one business day with a plain-English read-back and the response pathway. If work is needed — an EMP, an RMMP, an assessment — you'll get a written, not-to-exceed estimate with it. If nothing is needed, we'll say so.

We operate several sites — can you look wider than the notice?

Yes, and it's often wise. Under the General Environmental Duty, a risk EPA has flagged at one site is one you're expected to know about at your other sites too. Tell us how many sites you operate when you send the notice, and the read-back will flag whether a portfolio-wide response is worth considering. See multi-site EMP programs for how that works.
